Caños de Meca - Blick auf den Faro de Trafalgar Hügellandschaft bei Vejer de la Frontera Naturpark La Breña - Barbate, San Ambrosio

The Costa de la Luz is located in southern Spain (Andalucia), beginning at Huelva, in the north, bordering Portugal. Along the way one passes through the coastal towns of Rota, Cadiz, El Puerto de Santa Maria, Chiclana, Conil, Barbate, Zahara de los Atunes culminating at Tarifa, in the south, the windsurfing capital of Spain and just 14 km from Morocco. A few more kilometers around the coast and one reaches the historical Strait of Gibralter.

The Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light) owes its name to the magnificent bright lights which seem to intensify when reflecting the shimmering golden dunes or the whitewashed houses of the area. Just a few kilometers inland from the coast, one can behold these charming ¨white¨ villages, the Pueblos Blancos, with their romantic pathways and where the clocks tick a little bit more slowly.

Both Vejer de la Frontera and Arcos de la Frontera are stunning examples. All along the coast one encounters pristine sandy beaches minutes away from roaming pine forests.

Between Conil and Barbate is the lighthouse Faro de Trafalgar, where the historic Battle of Trafalgar was fought. The laid back villages of El Palmar, Zahora and Canos de Mecca follow the coast until one reaches the breathtaking hills of San Ambrosio. In San Ambrosio, situated close to the nature park, ¨La Brena¨, a protected pine forest, where the ubiquitous hills affords one a panoramic view of the coast and beyond, glimpsing Africa. We have numerous private rural houses in this area which can be found on our homepage.

Inland from the coast, one finds, lush countryside combined with rough mountains, fertile earth, wide pastureland, cork and oak trees, not to mention the provinces´ world class vineyards. In Jerez de la Frontera, renowned for their sherry, one can see the heart of flamenco and exquisite equestrian performances.

Springtime reveals a storybook lushness to the land with green meadows awash with a multicolored sea of flowers.

The summertime is hot and dry, where the young and old mix to enjoy the refreshing night hours and the never-ending Andalucian nightlife.

In spring and autumn the weather is mostly sunny and mild which brings millions of migratory birds to the region.

The sensational beaches of Costa de la Luz will welcome you to the land of yesteryear, far away from mass tourism. This sunny region has it all, magnificent nature, endless beaches and most special of all, the charm and hospitality of the Andalucian people!
